  1. Students are enrolled with the Meridian School on payment of the registration fee, which is non-refundable. Tuition fees are refunded in the event of a student being unable to start their course (e.g. in the event of a visa refusal) providing that Meridian School is informed in writing at least one week before the start of the course. Letters of acceptance, where necessary, are issued on payment of the enrolment fee. No course fees are refundable after a student has started a course.
  2. When a student wants the school to arrange accommodation with a host family, the student must pay one week’s accommodation in advance to the school. The school will then pay this money (the deposit) to the host family. This fee is non-refundable. This means that the first week’s accommodation has already been paid for when the student arrives. In the event of a student being unable to start their course, accommodation fees paid in advance, will be refunded.
  3. Students can start a course at Meridian School on any Monday for a minimum of one week. Fees are payable weekly on Friday for the following week.
  4. Students are expected to behave properly, attend at least 80% of their classes and be on time for their classes. They should apply themselves seriously to their work. The school reserves the right to refuse any student without explanation or to require any student to leave the school immediately for gross misconduct or abusive behaviour.
  5. Students agree to buy any required course books (after the first free one) as soon as possible.
  6. The school does not insure students against any type of accident, illness or loss. Students are strongly advised to arrange insurance for themselves before coming to the school.
  7. Students are responsible for giving the school accurate and up-to-date information about their address, phone numbers, email address and emergency contact details in the UK and their home country.
  8. In the event of students taking a holiday from their study, students must provide at least one week’s notice to the school (and to their host family, if applicable) and fill in a holiday form. In the event of illness, students must contact the school to inform the school of their situation.
  9. The school is usually closed for two weeks at Christmas and is also closed some bank holidays (please refer to the application form).
  10. From time to time, the school may take photographs of students for promotional purposes. By enrolling at the school you accept that any photographs taken of you by Meridian School of English may be used for promotional purposes.
  11. The school and its staff will not be liable for loss, damage or injury to persons or property however caused, except where such liability is expressly imposed by English law. The school is not responsible for the safekeeping or delivery of any post or fax sent to you at the school.
  12. Meridian School is not liable for refunds or damages, however they arise, in cases where the school is unable to provide any services to which it is contractually bound because of labour disputes, insufficient demand for courses, natural disasters or for any other reasons that are beyond its control.
  13. All information is correct at the time of writing, but Meridian School of English reserves the right to change these conditions at any time. We will make every reasonable effort to notify students and staff of any changes to these Terms and Conditions. These conditions were printed in November 2006.
